Drum Call - Cascadoo 2020

The Oral Tradition ROOTS Foundation

“The Revival of our oral traditions ensures the continuance of our legacy”

Drums, the oldest percussion instrument known to humanity has been bringing peoples of different cultures together across space and time from as far back as 6000 BC.

ROOTS Foundation has decided to launch Cascadoo CNVI Festival of Spoken Word 2020 featuring the label SOLO - "Spreading Our Love Online" with an inaugural Drum Call D’ Rhythm Festival on Sunday 9th August, 2020.

This virtual Drum Call Festival (1 to 25 drummers) will serve as a “drum circle”, a “drum jam” or a “jam session” to herald the start of this dynamic and amazing week of our global virtual platform for cultural exchanges, Cascadoo CNVI “it all comes back to Cascadoo”.

In order to participate in this inaugural Drum Call D’ Rhythm Festival please fill out the online Registration Form. The deadline to apply is Friday 31st July, 2020. This opportunity is open to persons of any age and nationality.

The year 2020 will be forever etched into the memories of us all. COVID-19 may have created an unprecedented “new normal” of “social/ physical distancing”. The global community needs the creative arts industry more than ever. The global community needs our voices, our words, our art, our creativity, our music, and most importantly, our rhythms, if we are going to get through these difficult and ‘unprecedented’ times.

We must continue to support each other, as well as reach out to families, relatives, friends and fellow creatives in our cities and towns globally to build a stronger creative expression, and an expression of love, peace, justice, sustainability and a sense of humanity during this global human crisis.

Like many creatives globally, ROOTS Foundation understands this need to creatively maneuver through this “new normal” of “social/ physical distancing” by organizing and letting our creativity be heard and seen on a global scale. Bringing the artistic community together is one of the most effective things we can do as creatives to bring about positive changes through education, awareness, community empowerment, and entertainment.

In this light, ROOTS Foundation has decided to take our annual spoken word festival CASCADOO: Caribbean New Voices International Festival of Spoken Word virtually to the global community using modern technology. Now, more than ever, mobilization is crucial, so ROOTS Foundation have decided to launch Cascadoo CNVI Festival of Spoken Word 2020 with an inaugural Drum Call D’ Rhythm Festival on Sunday 9th August, 2020.

This Drum Call Festival (1 to 25 drummers) will serve as a “drum circle”, a “drum jam” or a “jam session” to herald the start of this dynamic and amazing week of our global virtual platform for cultural exchanges, Cascadoo CNVI “it all comes back to Cascadoo”.
